The 1st International Energy Conference held at Acacia Hotel
The 1st International Energy Conference organized by the Department of Economics of University of the Philippines Los Baños was held last July 23-24, 2015 at the Acacia Hotel, Muntinlupa, Metro Manila. The conference showcased next generation sustainable and renewable energy technology and its policy regimes. During the parallel session of the conference, USAID STRIDE was tasked to present current projects on renewable energy under the REgenerate session. A portion of the research conducted under the “Life Cycle Assessment of Algal Biofuel Production in the Philippines” PURE Grant was presented by Dr. Aristotle Ubando during the REgenerate session.The study presented aims to identify potential microalgae cultivation sites in the Philippines based on the existing natural resources, human capital, and strategic position of plants and demands all over the country. Dr. Ubando was also accompanied by other USAID Project Grantees in the parallel session such as Dr. Shirley Agrupis of the Marioano Marcos State University and Dr. Maria Theresa Cabaraban of Xavier University Ateneo de Cagayan.
