Rountable Discussion on the Prospects of Microalgae in the Philippines
A roundtable discussion entitled "Prospects of Microalgae in the Philippines with Oil Prices Falling" was conducted at Hotel Jhen in Manila, Philippines on September 22, 2015 in cooperation with the National Academy of Science and Technology. The objectives of the roundtable discussion are the following: 1) to review the global scenario of oil prices in relation to microalgae production: 2) to assess the Philippine scenario on prospects for microalgae production and processing, 3) to identify some of the research challenges in production of biofuels from microalgae, and 4) to discuss the role of the industry, the government, and the research community for the prospects of microalgae in the Philippines. The event was well attended by the stakeholders from various universities, industries, and the govenrment.
