International Conference on Green Manufacturing held in Indonesia
Hosted by the research collaborative umbrella, The ASEAN University Network (AUN) and the Southeast Asia Engineering Education Development Network (SEED-Net) Project; the International and Regional Conference on Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering (ICMME & RCMME) 2015 was held in Eastparc Hotel, Yogyakarta, Indonesia last November 5-6, 2015. AUN/SEED-Net is composed of 26 member institutions from 10 ASEAN Countries with 14 Japanese Support Institutions. Its vision is to sustainably develop the countries involve in the network through the enhancement of highly skilled human resources in the field of engineering. The conference was in conjunction with the Seminar Nasional Material & Metalurgi. The theme of the conference is Green Manufacturing which focuses in reducing the waste and pollution manufacturing a product. The theme is very timely as environmental awareness is heightened due to its effect in climate change. International professors from various countries in the Southeast Asian region including Japan have shared their experience and expertise through oral technical presentations and social networking during the conference. I was able to present our work entitled "Priority Evaluation of Life Cycle Impact Factor for Algal Biofuel Production in the Philippines using Analytic Hierarchy Process". The work establishes an initial prioritization of impact factors of algal biofuels in the Philippines through a multi-criteria decision structure via expert preference. The paper was nominated for best paper award. This work is supported by the USAID STRIDE PURE Grant project. The manuscript was submitted for publication in the Trans Tech Publications Inc. under the Materials Science & Engineering. Photos of the conference are shown below.
